What is Visualfy Home and what does it do?

Visualfy Home is an intelligent sound detection system. The DSS is the largest device, it is a central hub and recognises the sounds coming from its internal detector, or the other detectors. Additionally, the DSS is linked with three other sound detectors. When one of the configured sounds is detected close to a detector, the whole system makes an alert by flashing a colour that the user has chosen.

Where do I have to plug in the detector?

Place each detector as close as possible to the sound you want to capture. Try to make it is a clear space so it can better receive the DSS signal and, if possible, make sure the detector is visible, so that you can see the light and colour alerts when it, or another detector, detects sounds.

Why are there three detectors?

Actually, there are four detectors, not three, since the DSS also works like another detector. Place each detector near the sound source you want to capture, because a sound must be loud and clear to be correctly recognised. For example, if you want to record the doorbell, place a detector near the door.

Why are there plug sockets on each detector?

These sockets enable you to continue using the socket in which you plug the detector, so you do not run out of sockets in your home.

Can more than one family member use the mobile app?

Yes, as owner of the device, you can invite others to receive the alerts that you configure. The guest user must download the Visualfy App and configure it as a guest.

Installation and registration

Where do I have to plug in the main DSS unit?

The DSS unit should be plugged near your Internet router, and in a clear place so it can hear sounds and communicate with the other detectors.

Where do I have to plug in each detector?

Plug each detector into a place where there are one or more sounds you want to hear. Try to place them as close as possible to the sound source.

What is the listening range of a detector?

A detector must be placed in the same room from which the sound comes – or very close. The room may be very large. Plug each detector as close as possible to the sound you want to detect. In addition, it must be in a clear space to receive the DSS signal, and if possible visible, so you can see the light alerts when the detector, or another detector, detects a sound.

Can I unplug the DSS or the detectors?

Yes, of course, but disconnect everything at the same time from the electricity supply (the main DSS unit and detectors) to avoid receiving notifications. When you connect again to the electricity supply, the system will remember your alerts.

Can I change the DSS from one dwelling to another?

Yes, you can change the Visualfy Home location. But remember, that every time you change the location of the DSS and the detectors, you must make another configuration. This is because the sounds and the environment will be different.

Configuring alerts and recording sound

What is an alert?

Alerts are the warnings you receive when a sound is detected. Create an alert in the room where the detector is located. For example, in the hall for the doorbell. Even if the sound is recorded only on that detector, the other detectors and the DSS unit will also light up when an alert is received. In addition, you will receive a notification on your the mobile, or the device you have chosen.

Why do I have to record some sounds, but not others?

Sounds like a baby crying and a kettle are already recorded in the DSS. But sounds like a doorbell or alarm must be recorded because there are many different versions and the DSS needs to know exactly how your home sounds.

What is an organic sound?

Organic sounds are those sounds (like babies and kettles) that sound the same. Visualfy Home already recognises these sounds, and you do not have to record them. You just need to activate them.

What is a mechanical or personalised sound?

A mechanical sound, like a bell or an alarm, sounds the same. However, there are many mechanical sounds, so we ask you to record them. As they always sound the same, a few recordings are enough for Visual Home to then detect them.

Why do I have to record a sound several times?

By recording a sound several times, the DSS makes sure that it can be recognised accurately.

The app tells me there is a lot of noise when I try to record a sound, what should I do?

You may have some other device switched on, or perhaps you are moving around, or you have an open window and noise is coming from the street, or your neighbours are playing loud music. Try to make everything as quiet as possible and try again in a few minutes.

Alerts and notifications

I do not have a baby. Can I use the baby alert to receive voice alerts?

It is not possible to replace one sound with another. However, we are working to recognise the sounds of members of the family.

How will I know when an alert occurs?

The DSS alerts you with the its own lights, and the detectors send notifications to the mobile or devices you choose (such as the Philips Hue light-bulbs, smart watches, etc).

How do I receive notifications on my mobile?

In addition to the lights on the devices, you will receive notifications on your mobile. On Android phones, you can configure the whole screen to light up with the alert icon (e.g. baby crying) and a coloured background – as well as a flash and vibration if you choose. On Apple iPhones you will receive a mobile notification in the same way as notifications from other apps, but it is not currently possible to receive a flash and vibration on these phones. However, at Visualfy we are working to make these accessibility options available for Apple users.

On what devices can I receive alerts?

On Android phones or Apple iPhones, Philips Hue light-bulbs, and Apple and Android watches.

Can I receive notifications on smart bulbs?

Yes, integration with Philips Hue is currently available.

Will I still receive alerts if my doorbell makes no sound?

No, because the DSS detects sounds and not electrical signals.

And how do I find out about an alert when I do not have my mobile phone with me?

You will see the light signals from the DSS and from the detectors. In addition, you can connect it to other devices – such as smart bulbs or Android or Apple smart watches.

Where can I download the app?

Download the version you need for your operating system.

How do I invite members of my family to use the App?

You can manage invited users on the Visualfy App.

If you are a Visualfy Home administrator you can invite members of your family in the DSS configuration under the ‘1 user’ sign by clicking on the ‘+’ symbol. You can share the invitation through a link, messages, and emails.

If you are not an administrator, and wish to join an installed Visualfy Home, you can register a new Visualfy Home from the main screen of the app. Then click on the option ‘Link to a DSS from another person’ and follow the steps indicated by the app.

Why do I have to pay an annual subscription?

The annual subscription to Visualfy Home guarantees a continuous improvement in the service, which will include new features and sounds. Our commitment is to make a continuous improvement in your Visualfy Home. We will be at your side as long as you want – and offer all the advantages of updates and support.
