THE FIRST GIRLS FREE OF THE GENE OF BREAST CANCER ARE BORN IN SPAIN

Laura is the mother of the first free girls of the BRCA gene, responsible for breast cancer. Thanks to a genetic study, she discovered that she was a carrier of a mutation of this gene. Her great-grandmother, her grandmother and her mother died of breast cancer. Therefore, he decided that he did not want to continue with the inheritance that his family had left him and thus to avoid that his daughters were born with this same gene.

To do this, he contacted the Valencian Institute of Infertility (IVI) in Vigo (Galicia) to begin an assisted reproduction process that allows the selection of embryos that are not carriers of this gene. Of the 11 embryos obtained, only three were free of the BRCA gene. Two of them were implanted inside the uterus and the other decided to freeze it in case they decided to become parents later.

The result was successful at the first and last July were born his two daughters. However, Laura claimed that her daughters could have breast cancer as one in 10 or 12 women, but with this treatment she made sure she was finished with the inheritance of the gene.

Before these two girls, only two children from Barcelona and Zaragoza had been born free of the breast gene.

MANY OF THE FOODS WE CONSUME CONTAIN PALM OIL

Palm oil is the most consumed and cheapest oil in the world. It is in many of the products we buy, perhaps in many more than we think: chips, breakfast cereals, cookies, pre-cooked products, pizza, chocolate…

It is a plant substance derived from African palm fruit, and its consumption causes the highest mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases. The researchers found that each kilogram that was consumed caused 68 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.

Palm oil is made up of 50% saturated fats, which increase the levels of bad cholesterol, although it is true that it also contains vitamin E.

Like eating burned foods, palm oil also causes cancer. This happens because during the refining process, the oil reaches the 200 degree temperature that produces carcinogenic substances.

Experts do not prohibit their use, but do advise avoiding it, so do not forget to read the labels of the products you consume.

CIBERATAQUE REPRESENTS 32% OF ECONOMIC CRIME IN SPAIN

Businesses and citizens are hardest hit by the rise in cyberattacks. These are not only carried out by hackers but organized groups, which gather all the information possible to sell or blackmail the user. Access to this information through public Wi-Fi networks and in recent years has increased cyber attacks on infrastructure such as ports, airports or train and metro stations.

Experts claim that the main cyber-threat at present is the attack through ‘ransomware’. Is a computer program that prevents you from entering certain files on the infected system and requires a rescue in exchange for allowing you to return the access.

Other illegal activities carried out via the Internet are scams through non-existent shops, fake gift vouchers, fictitious jobs or sending messages with false senders who advise users to confirm the details of their bank accounts and passwords and then access them.

For this reason, experts advise making backups on different devices, especially in companies, and change passwords frequently to avoid large cyber attacks.
